Crazy Eights Card Game Rules

You can play it with any 52-card deck. No special box is required. That is the usual answer to “can you play crazy 8 with regular cards.” The Wild Guess box is a different game that builds a pool table out of a custom deck. Do not mix the two rule sets.

1. Deal 5 cards each under Bicycle’s rules. Wikipedia describes a two-player variant with 7 each; agree on the deal before starting. Wikipedia lists two to seven players.
2. Flip a starter. On your turn, match the rank or the suit of the top card.
3. An 8 is wild. Play it and name the suit the next player must follow.
4. If you cannot play, draw until you can. When the stock is exhausted, Bicycle says an unable player passes. Wikipedia describes reshuffling the discards except their top card. These are different published variants; pick one before play.
5. The first player who empties their hand ends the hand. Score the cards left in other hands: each 8 is 50, each face card is 10, and other cards score their face value. A match is often played to 50 points times the number of players, so two players race to 100.

The name “Crazy Eights” shows up in the 1940s, tied to the U.S. Army slang “Section 8.” The game itself is older in print as “Eights,” from the 1930s. Common house variants add a queen that skips, an ace that reverses direction, and a draw-two. Those are variants, not the core rules above.

Nothing on this page is a code, a cue, or a Roblox rank. If the search that brought you here was the pool game, use the name check and pick the Roblox row. I am not linking the Roblox code list from here, so the two topics stay apart.
